About Zzap

Zzap-online in seven questions

What is Zzap-online?

The Zzap-online web portal is a digital platform currently being set up for everything related to culture and leisure activities in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. Amongst other things, the platform offers a website guide, consisting of more than 100 clubs related to a particular topic, for example Club Galleries, Club Museums or Club Wellness. Companies, organisations, associations, people and events can present themselves internationally within these clubs by means of their own web page in the three languages of the Meuse-Rhine Euregion and in English.

Who can register?

Everyone actively involved in art, cultural activities or media, or who is part of the creative industry or leisure, restaurant/bar/catering and tourism sectors (including shops within these sectors), can register to be listed on this Euregional search engine by clicking on the button “Registration for Club Members”. Next, the party concerned can log in with a special code and create its own page in the web portal – an advertorial page, a photo page or a video page – and manage this page themselves. Activities can be entered in the calendar. View the list with clubs on the registration form and select the club that best matches your profile or your business’s profile. The Zzap editorial staff will assess every application and, on the basis of your activities, determine whether you or your website may be eligible to be listed in more than one club.

Are there any costs involved?

No, there are no costs involved. Everyone who is active in the abovementioned sectors can register free of charge and manage their own page.

What else does Zzap-online offer?

Above all, Zzap-online is a media site. In addition to the website guide, the web portal also offers themed sections and services in the field of art, culture and leisure activities. Discover the convenience of the Euregional Zzap calendar, the Musicbox full of great music videos or Zzap TV, to which everyone can submit a video. There is also a Forum, where visitors from the three countries in the region can make contact with each other. It doesn’t matter what language visitors use – the Zzap editorial team assumes that everyone has at least a passive understanding of each other’s language. The features offered will gradually be extended.

What will Zzap-online achieve by this?

The Meuse-Rhine Euregion, one of the oldest cultural regions in Europe with its 3.9 million inhabitants, has an unparalleled cultural heritage. The national borders in place today conceal much of this from the general public. Zzap-online is keen to do something about this. The aim is to entice the region’s inhabitants to move about the Euregion as people used to in the past; to make contact, to visit cultural events and to take part in activities. The platform also hopes to become the calling card for all those who want to visit the Meuse-Rhine Euregion or who are simply interested in the cultural heritage of this European melting pot.

How far does Zzap-online reach?

At a Euregional level, everyone in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion (see map in the main menu) can make contact via Zzap-online and exchange information. The area around the Meuse-Rhine Euregion is also of interest to the region’s inhabitants. Information can be found in the web portal relating to the area extending roughly to Eindhoven to the north, Düsseldorf and Cologne to the east, and Namur, Brussels, and Antwerp to the south and west. Naturally, this information is accessible for everyone who understands French, Dutch, German or English.

Will the information also be made available in printed form?

Not in the foreseeable future. The economic situation is still too unpredictable to take such a step. However, Zzap-online is currently investigating the possibility of setting up a Euregional internet newspaper for cultural and leisure activities. This will be built into the platform. We will keep you updated.
